Girls Soccer Season Comes To An End

The Lakewood Park Christian girls soccer team lost to Bethany Christian in a Sectional matchup at Westview on October 3rd with a final score of 2-0. The game was scoreless through the first 60 minutes before Bethany broke the deadlock with a shot from close range. Bethany added a second goal minutes later on a free kick that went up and over Lakewood’s defensive wall. The Panthers had a number of chances to score throughout the game, but the goalie for Bethany did a nice job to register the shutout. Lakewood ended its regular season 5-9-1, scoring 23 goals and allowing in 38. Lakewood played most of the season without leading goal scorer and all-area player Alessandra Haraguchi (22 goals in 2015). The Panthers were plagued with injuries to key players throughout the season, but played extremely well in every match, embracing the team motto of ‘No Excuse.’ The number one team goal for the season was to honor God on and off the field and that was definitely achieved by the Lady Panthers. The most difficult part of last night’s sectional was not losing the game but having to say goodbye to our senior class. Seniors Alessandra, Saddie Chambless, Tori Gallagher, Kaleigh Collins, and Kayla Tatman leave the team, taking with them a huge amount of talent and leadership.
