VGS vs. Woodlan

The Lakewood Park Christian Panther girls soccer team was defeated by Woodlan in an away match on September 7th, with a final score of 1-0.  The first half of the game was a defensive standoff with neither team allowing many chances on goal.  The half ended 0-0 with Lakewood’s best scoring opportunity coming from senior Aubrey Jester who got past the Woodlan defense to fire a shot at goal.  The second half saw Woodlan create more offensive chances and finally get a breakthrough in the 70th minute to put a shot past Lakewood goalkeeper, junior Millie Linnemeier.  Millie helped keep the Panthers in the game, by making numerous saves and delivering quality goal kicks and punts to her teammates.  Sophomore Grace Gardner thrilled both teammates and fans with her solid defensive performance in the midfield.  Junior Annalisa Haraguchi celebrated her 17th birthday with an impressive effort in the stopper position by making multiple defensive tackles and distributing the ball nicely to her teammates.  The Lady Panthers host West Noble at home in their next match on Monday, September 11th at 5:00pm.
