Panthers tie the Braves

The Lakewood Park Panther Middle School girls soccer team tied Blackhawk Christian in their home opener on April 12th, with a final score of 1-1.  The Panthers were in control most of the first half but Blackhawk was able to take a lead 1-0 late in the half on one of their few attempts on goal.  The second half was fairly even with both teams creating chances at either end.  Lakewood was able to equalize with 7 minutes left in the game when Haley Brooks broke through the Blackhawk defense placed a shot into the side netting of the goal.  Blackhawk nearly responded with a goal, but were denied by an amazing goal-line save from Olivia Crider.  Lakewood’s formidable defense was led by the center back tandem of Megan Kooistra and Daleska Tatman.  Adrian Bontrager played goalkeeper in the second half and did not allow any goals.
