Girls Soccer Defeats Fort Wayne Fusion

The Lakewood Park Panther girls soccer team defeated the Fort Wayne Fusion at home on August 23, with a final score of 5-0. Senior Kayla Tatman scored first for Lakewood off a goalie deflection from a hard shot by senior Alessandra Haraguchi. Senior Saddie Chambless scored second for the Panthers with a long range shot, putting them up 2-0 at the half. Lakewood started the second half strong with a goal from distance by junior Ellie Witmer. Alessandra scored the final two Lakewood goals by dribbling past the Fusion defense and placing the ball in the net. Freshmen Grace Gardner provided the assist on the final goal. Sophomore Goalie Millie Linnemeier recorded her first shutout of the season. Kaleigh Collins was selected as the Panther’s player the game her excellent defensive performance in the wing fullback, stopper, and center back positions. The Lady Panthers are back in action on Monday, August 29 at 5:00pm at home against Blackhawk Christian.
