VGS vs. Mississinewa

The Lakewood Park Christian Panther girls soccer team was defeated at home by Mississinewa on September 18th, with a final score of 2-1.  The Panthers had the better of play for the majority of the game but struggled to put the ball in the back of the net.  Lakewood dominated possession and outshot the Indians by count of 15 to 5.  The first half ended with Mississinewa leading by a score of 2-0.  The second half was spent almost entirely in the Mississinewa half of the field with the Panthers creating chance after chance offensively.  Lakewood finally got a goal when senior Jael Winterholter jumped on a cross from a corner kick and shot the ball past the keeper.  The Panthers continued to press after scoring but could not find the equalizer.  Following the game there was a nice celebration to recognize Lakewood’s eight awesome seniors: Anya Barg, Courtney Davenport, Ellie Hardy, Aubrey Jester, Paige Trammel, Julia Vergon, Jael, and Ellie Witmer.  The Lady Panthers are back in action in a home match on Thursday, September 21st at 5:30pm against Elkhart Christian Academy.
