Varsity Mid-Season Report – Experiencing Present Success with Very Bright Future!

It’s hard to believe, but fall sports season is half over already. Our Varsity teams have experienced great success this fall and have displayed great attitudes and behavior on the fields and courts. Our Varsity Girls Volleyball team is having an amazing season! What was supposed to be a “rebuilding” year for Coach Laura Hibbard has become a “reloading” year as she has reloaded her line-up with talented young players to supplement her returning two seniors. Lilly Kruse, a sophomore, is second in the state with 297 kills! Our Varsity VB record is 13-3.

Speaking of state leaders, Bradey Gerke is leading Indiana in goals (33) and points scored (73) with the next closest having 25 and 59 respectively. Bradey’s senior leadership has contributed to Coach Terry Exford’s young Varsity Soccer team experiencing success in this transitional year. The boys’ record is 6-5-1.

Our Varsity Girls Soccer has made tremendous strides this fall. Coach Fred Witmer and his assistants have led our girls to a 3-5-1 record, already vastly improving on a program that hadn’t won a game in two years. Alessandra Haraguchi leads the team with 12 goals on the year. This is also a young team, with no seniors on the roster.

With the relative age of all these teams, their talent level, and the present success they are all experiencing, the future looks very bright for LPCS fall athletics!
