Panthers defeat Concordia

The Lakewood Park Panther Middle School girls soccer team defeated Concordia in an away match on April 20th, with a final score of 5-1.  Lakewood put on an offensive display that was irresistible to watch in this game.  Sam Hartz pulled the strings in midfield as she found her teammates again and again with perfectly weighted passes.  Sam was also able to breakthrough and get a goal in her first minute of entering the game with a powerful left foot shot.  They say the best gifts come in small packages and that was certainly true in this game as the diminutive Maddie Beck provided a staggering 4 goal gift basket for the Panthers.  The Concordia defense had no answer for Maddie’s footwork and finishing ability which left the spectators in awe.  Addison Miller had a stellar performance in the stopper position which she was called upon to play as defensive adjustments were made to make up for the injured Megan Kooistra.  Dani Lesser and Dominque Bontrager played their wing fullback positions to perfection, allowing few if any chances to develop in the flanks.  Kaiya Bontrager applied a lot of offensive pressure as well and appeared to have scored a goal, but it was ruled offsides.  Lakewood is back in action on Friday May 27th at 5:00 PM in a home match against Holy Cross.
