Off To A Great Start

It’s been a great first week of school here in the Athletic Department, and we can’t wait for next week’s JV and Varsity contests to arrive! Thank you to the many parents who came out for the Fall Sports Parents Meeting on Tuesday evening. We appreciate your support of your student-athlete and LPCS Sports. To clarify, there will be a parents meeting for each of our three sports seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring). You are welcome to attend any of these meetings, but only parents of in-season athletes are required to attend a particular meeting.

One of the goals of the LPCS Athletic Department is to instill and reinforce in all of us (the AD included!) a biblical worldview of athletics. To that end, we have created a section of our Athletic Handbook with that title. I will be highlighting a portion of that section in each of the Friday newsletters throughout the school year. This week’s portion:

God has richly given us sports to enjoy. To the extent we have the health, talent, and ability to participate in sports, these too are good gifts from God. (1 Tim. 6:17; James 1:17; Ps. 139:14-15)

Our Creator is a wonderfully generous God. As a means of allowing us to enjoy and be satisfied in Him, God has given us a great variety of enjoyable activities in life. Among these are discovery, learning, music, culture, industry, relationships, work, and leisure. At LPCS, we strive to offer an educational program that draws students into learning to enjoy these various good gifts of God. We recognize that no one particular gift of God should be exalted to the exclusion of others. We encourage you to help your student-athlete keep his or her relationship to sports at the healthy level that is balanced with academics and other pursuits. Our Athletic Department is committed to doing everything we can to keep academics a priority and ensure that athletes can still participate in the fine arts and other programs LPCS has to offer, even in season if at all possible.

If we can help your family in any way to keep this balance, please let me know.

All Sports and Fall Season Passes

All Sports and Fall Season Passes are available for purchase in the front office, the Athletic Office, or at the gate of all of our home contests. The All Sports pass costs $200 and is good for admission of your immediate family members to all home sports contests throughout the school year. The Fall Season pass costs $75 and is good for admission to all home volleyball and soccer contests.

Volunteers Needed

Our home sporting events wouldn’t be possible without a team of volunteers coming together to support our school and sports teams. A huge thanks to those of you who have already volunteered to serve and help in any way you can! In an effort to streamline the volunteer coordination process, we have created accounts for both soccer and volleyball with signupgenius.com. If you are a soccer or volleyball parent (or anyone else willing to help), please follow the links below to sign up to serve at the gate or in the concessions stand. We have tried our best to work these schedules so that you do not have to miss watching your child’s game. If all of our soccer and volleyball families would sign up to work the gate or concessions for just one event throughout the season, there would be more than enough volunteers to cover everything! Thanks in advance for your help!
