Lakewood Girls Soccer Victorious over FW Fusion

The Lakewood Park Panther girls soccer team was victorious in an away match against the FW Fusion on August 17, with a final score of 4-1.  The Panthers put in solid performances in every position on the field, but the standout player of the match was senior Aubrey Jester who netted a hat trick.  Her first goal came early in the match with an upper 90 shot to beat the Fusion goalkeeper.  Aubrey’s second goal came just before halftime with a tap-in off a beautiful cross from the left side of the field by senior Jael Winterholter.  Lakewood went into the half with a 2-0 lead.  Lakewood’s third goal came off a succession of excellent passes that found Jael in position to convert on a long range shot (assist to Jester).  Aubrey’s final goal was an unassisted left footed blast into the lower right corner.  The Panthers’ formidable defense allowed very few shots on junior goalkeeper Millie Linnemeier.  Leading the pack on defense were senior Anya Barg, senior Julia Vergon, senior Ellie Hardy, and sophomore Mica Allen.  The Lady Panthers are back in action on Monday, August 21 at 5:30pm in an away game against Heritage.
