Girls Varsity Soccer Defeats New Haven

The Lakewood Park Panther girls varsity soccer team defeated New Haven High School at home on September 16th, with a final score of 2-1. Lakewood got behind early in the game, but battled back to end the half up 2-1. The first Panther goal started with a long range shot by junior Ellie Hardy that the goalie could not control. Junior Jael Winterholter jumped on the missed save and put the ball in the back of the net. The second goal for Lakewood came off a nice pass from junior Ellie Witmer to junior Paige Trammel who broke past the New Haven defense and converted the chance. Lakewood dominated possession in the second half and had many opportunities to score. New Haven did not have a shot in the second half due to a strong defensive performance led by junior Julia Vergon, senior Kaleigh Collins, junior Anya Barg, and senior Tori Gallagher. The Lady Panthers are back in action on Monday, September 19th at 5:30pm in an away match against New Mississnewa High School.
