VBB Splits Double Header With Prairie Heights

In the first game, the Panthers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-1 loss to Prairie Heights on Saturday. Prairie Heights scored on a walk by #16 and a wild pitch in the first inning. Prairie Heights captured the lead in the first inning. Tysen Hunt went 1-for-4 at the plate as he led the team with one run batted in. Panthers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Thomas Harvey led the way with three.

In the second game, the Panthers built a six-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Prairie Heights’s charge for a 12-10 victory on Saturday. Carsten White collected four hits in four at bats to help lead Panthers to victory. White singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, walked in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Jessie Gallardo earned the win for Panthers. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs, seven hits, and striking out one. Andrew Lyons recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for Panthers. The Panthers had 14 hits in the game. White, Luke Shively, and Harvey each collected multiple hits for Panthers. Harvey led Panthers with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-3 on the day.
