LPCS Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Heritage

The Lakewood Park Panther girls soccer team was defeated in an away match against Heritage on August 21, with a final score of 5-2.  The Panthers were dominate in the first half and did not allow Heritage any real opportunities to score.  Lakewood went into halftime with a 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman Hannah Sibery with an assist from freshman Sabra Harms.  Sabra had an all-star performance in the midfield and her pass from the right side of the field to setup Hannah’s one touch shot on goal was just one of many outstanding plays she had in the game.  The second half started with Heritage tying up the game early due to a couple unfortunate defensive mistakes by the Panthers.  The wheels came off the bus though when both Lakewood center backs, senior Julia Vergon and sophomore Mica Allen, had to be subbed due to injury.  With these two defensive powerhouses out of the game, Heritage went on 4 goal run over a 10 minute period.  Lakewood was able to score one more goal off a penalty kick converted by senior Aubrey Jester.  The PK was setup by senior Jael Winterholter who made a strong run at goal with the ball only to be taken out from behind by the Heritage right fullback.  Junior Annalisa (Peanut) Haraguchi put in a memorable performance in the stopper position, making numerous defensive stops to frustrate the opponents. The Lady Panthers are back in action on Monday, August 28 at 7:00pm in an away game against Blackhawk.
