Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Fort Wayne Fusion

The Lakewood Park Panther girls soccer team defeated the Fort Wayne Fusion in an away match on September 20th, with a final score of 1-0. The game play was pretty even in the first half with chances to score at both ends. The first half ended 0-0. Lakewood had the better of play in the second half, creating many more opportunities to score than the Fusion. The deadlock was broken halfway through the second half when senior Kayla Tatman fired a shot on goal that the Fusion keeper failed to control. Junior Jael Winterholter jumped on the mishandled shot and put the ball in the back of the net. Sophomore goalkeeper Millie Linnemeier recorded her third shutout of the season behind a strong defensive unit joined by sophomore Courtney Davenport in the wing fullback position. Jael has scored for the Panthers in 3 of the last 4 games. The Lady Panthers are back in action on Saturday, September 24th at Angola High School with games at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
